The SPARC Story

SPARC Stafford Prototype and Repair Collar System

SPARC – the Stafford Prototype and Repair Collar System – enables users to create their own working models of special-purposed shaft collars and components within a few hours.

Design engineers can use SPARC to quickly test the form, fit and function of a new part, providing immediate feedback on proof-of-concept testing.

Maintenance and manufacturing engineers can rapidly reproduce a part to minimize production downtime.

AN EVERYDAY APPLICATION OF 3-D PRINTING TECHNOLOGY

Here’s how it works:

  • Step 1)

A stocked, precision-machined Master Collar, available in one-and two-piece split clamp styles, in three OD sizes, in Steel, Stainless Steel and Aluminum, is designed to accept a customized insert as outlined in Step 2.

  • Step 2)

Stafford supplies a CAD drawing file – at no charge – for a 3-D Printed Insert for the Master Collar. The basic file fully defines all the mating surfaces as well as the areas where the user can make modifications. Users are encouraged to share their modified files in the SPARC CAD Library.

The inserts are designed to mate securely with the Master Collar to create a unified working part and can include holes, bosses, slots, tabs, hubs, pulleys, and other features.

  • Step 3)

The insert is printed by the customer, Stafford or a third party.

  • Step 4)

The Insert is mated with Master Collar and you’re ready to go!
